WATERFALL BAY, THE BOATHOUSE

A new addition to our Waterfall Bay accommodation options, this one is just for two. 

The Boathouse is a delightfully rebuilt version of the old Hall at Waterfall Bay. Rustic and full of charm, perfectly set up for a couple looking for a romantic getaway destination in the Queen Charlotte Sound, specifically located at Waterfall Bay at the end of Onahau Bay. One of the loveliest spots in the Queen Charlotte Sounds.

One large room with a couple of comfy leather armchairs in front of the open fireplace, a dining table and a cosy King bed at the other end.  There is a sheltered veranda along the front of the hall with a delightful view across the bay. An outdoor deck complete with a Soaked bathtub and an outdoor shower offer a true Sounds experience being set in the surrounding bush. 

This is self-catering accommodation, there is a kitchen on site and it is well set up with equipment including a bench oven, fridge, a Weber BBQ, microwave, toaster, kettle and all the crockery and cutlery you may require. It also has a commercial gas oven.  In the storage area at the rear there is also a washing machine. There is plenty of gas hot water.

There is an open fireplace at one end and plenty of dry firewood stored out the back.

Access is by boat and car via the Keneperu road or a 20 minute walk down from where the Te Mahia saddle on the Queen Charlotte track. There is a jetty and a couple of moorings for you to use and guests are welcome to utilise the paddleboards, the kayaks, the dinghy and the beanbags.

The property is shared with guests staying at the Waterfall Bay cottage or the main house, both of which are further along the track, but often you will be the only people in the cove. There is an access track that runs along the front of the hall so guests may walk past during the day or, occasionally, to look at glow-worms in the evening.

For those couples wanting to extend their track walk with a couple of nights in a comfortable and private haven or just a few days escape to the Sounds, this offers a heavenly spot in a stunning location, a wonderful place to while away a few days, relax and recharge.  Catering options for track walkers can organised with online purchasing and collection by our property manager prior to your arrival. An extra charge will be made for this service.

Just a note that last minute bookings may not be able to be accepted. There is no manager on site and we do need some notice to prepare the Boathouse for guests.
